Before you Buy
Attention Coton de Tulear Puppy Buyers
Are you looking for a quality Coton de Tulear from health tested parents who has been socialized and nurtured to be your next family member? Begin your search by checking the USACTC Code of Ethics Breeders Directory.
USACTC Code of Ethics Breeders listed in the club’s Breeders Directory are defined by a standard of excellence. Our Breeders Directory contains breeder members who are stewards of the breed’s future and serve as ambassadors for our AKC Parent Breed Club. They adhere to a set of ethical principles and are distinguished from those who exploit the breed solely for profit.
It is important you feel confident with the Coton breeder and puppy you choose BEFORE purchasing. Please ask breeders questions about their dogs and lifestyle, health testing of parents, temperament and health guarantees, sales policies, experience, veterinary practices, and socialization of pups.
The majority of our COE Breeders health test beyond Canine Health Information Center (CHIC) minimum guidelines for the Coton de Tulear breed, in their best effort to produce healthy puppies. These breeders have the welfare of each individual Coton de Tulear, as well as the preservation of the entire breed, governing all aspects of their breeding plans.
It is worthwhile to note there is a substantial difference between breeders that claim to be ethical and those that actually practice educated, responsible breeding of purebred dogs.
The inclusion of a breeder on the COE Breeders Directory does not constitute endorsement or recommendation by the USACTC. The USACTC, Inc. does not endorse any breeder specifically, but we do endorse our Breeders Directory. We cannot “guarantee” that a puppy you purchase will be satisfactory in regards to health, temperament or conformation. We can only assure you listed Breeders have agreed to follow all USACTC, Inc. Code of Ethics for breeding.
The USACTC, Inc. assumes no responsibility for the promises, guarantees or warranties to which a buyer and seller may agree. It is the responsibility of potential buyers to ask questions and decide for themselves if they wish to do business with any particular breeder.
